Situated between the villages of Gwauan-Cae-Gurwen and Brynaman the cottages overlook the wide common which separates the two villages. There are a number of local public houses in each village which can be walked to, although the choice of pubs is better a little further afield, good food and ambience can always be found in LOWTHERS, in CWMLLYNFELL approximately a 10 minutes drive, Ammanford a 15 minute drive in the other direction has a good variety of both Chinese and Indian restaurants as well as good day time cafe's and bars. Swansea city centre boasts a very lively night life of cafe's, bars, theatre and outdoor entertainment. The city has a number of gay venues including the biggest night club in west wales.

Shopping
there is a large supermarket some 10 minutes walk from the cottage, otherwise a 24 hour tesco store 5 miles in one direction and another tesco store five miles in the other direction.

Dog walking
there are walks which are immediate to the cottage, and there is an infinity of wonderful dog walks whether on the coast or in the brecon beacons mountains.

Cinema and theatres
there are a number of cinem's and small theatres within a 5 mile radius of the cottage

Hospitals
there are two teaching hospitals in swansea and one in llanelli. there is a 24 hour casualty in both area's.

Carreg Cennan Castle

Carreg Cennan castle sits majestically above the hills of the Brecon Beacons only minutes from the cottage, the drive over the mountain is always exhilarating but particularly so if there is snow covering. Also around the site of the castle is a cafe serving good home made food and a craft centre. For the energetic there is a wonderful walk through the countryside surrounding the castle depending on the route you want to take the walk can take up to four hours making the local pub a very welcome sight.

Llandeilo
	This old market town is well worth visiting, apart from being an architecturally very interesteing place it hosts some of the finest hotels and restaurants in the area. It has a wonderful art gallery and small shops selling antiquities. Also in Llandeilo is the very famous Dinevwr castle set in the rambling grounds of Dinevwr park.

Mumbles Pier

Waterfalls
	Magnificent complex of rivers and waterfall, this well developed tourist attraction has numerous paths and picnic spots, also natural pools which allow for summer swimming. It is possible to spend a whole day exploring this area and still return to find more. Great dog walking area.
